How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?
At Team Tito, we try to put people first with everything we do. We minimise meetings, and encourage folks to set their own pace. In December, we have no meetings and no deadlines. We have a generous mandatory vacation policy and folks can take personal days as needed.

How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?
Autonomy is built in to our work structure in an on-off pattern. As a currently very small team, everyone has a say on nearly every issue, but leadership present policies that have been designed to maximise safety and security for all employees. We work on a 2-weeks on / 1-week off schedule, where the 2-week portion is focus work on assigned tasks and the 1-week portion is freestyle. In December, we operate a fully-freestyle month.

How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?
We've been engaged in a years-long executive training programme with Kim Crayton. Kim has taken us through a journey of reframing issues through the lens of the most vulnerable, and supported us last year hiring contractors from traditionally marginalised backgrounds, as well as helping us put systems, policies and procedures in place to prioritise people who do not look or think like us.
How do you support your team to grow and improve?
Every employee has a regular one-on-one where they get to raise issues personal to them. We don't currently have a formal process of mentorship, but we have a track record of covering costs for employees who wish to learn new skills, attend conferences, or take time to sharpen the saw.
