How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?

To support a healthy balance between work, family, and the rest of life, we promote flexible working hours, remote work options, and encourage employees to set boundaries that prevent work from encroaching on personal time. We've implemented policies such as generous parental leave, unlimited PTO, 4-week mandatory minimum time-off, and fostering a culture that values self-care and discourages excessive overtime or unrealistic expectations contributes to a healthier work-life equilibrium.

To support autonomy and alignment with the company vision, we clearly communicate the overarching mission and goals while providing a framework that empowers team members to make decisions within their scope of work. We encourage cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of transparency and inclusion. We regularly celebrate team successes and reinforce how individual contributions impact the overall company vision, fostering a sense of ownership and commitment to the organization's objectives.

How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?

We have invested in DEI&B in the following ways: 
  • Created company values and defined behaviors we can practice to live into those values. 
  • Created a policy that clearly defines what it looks like for us to foster, cultivate, and preserve a culture of diversity and inclusion. 
  • Weekly book club to foster a culture of being learners vs. knowers.
  • Encourage a culture that values vulnerability, defining personal values, trust, resilience, ,transparency, and a variety of perspectives and walks of life. 

Here is where I believe we can and plan to improve: 
  • Define inclusive hiring practices, 
  • Offering diversity and unconscious bias training / workshops
  • Creating employee resource groups 
  • Promoting diverse leadership representation can also contribute to a more inclusive environment. 
  • Regularly reviewing and updating policies to ensure fairness, and providing opportunities for open dialogue, helps strengthen a sense of belonging and inclusivity within the organization.

How do you support your team to grow and improve?

To motivate our team to constantly improve and grow their skills, we establish clear goals and expectations, and encourage open communication channels for discussing conflicts and concerns. We implement regular performance reviews and feedback sessions to facilitate personal development and address any issues. Additionally, we create long-term plans for improvement by identifying skill gaps, providing relevant training opportunities, and allocating resources for personal growth and development.
