How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?
We do almost all of our work asynchronously and so have very few meetings over the course of the month. We are also a remote first team with colleagues from all over the world which means that most times communication makes sense via email, recorded video, or non-urgent slack messages.
How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?
We have documented many SOPs and have some cultural guidelines to help colleagues work autonomously on projects aimed at specific goals. We want people to feel ownership of their work, and be proud of their impact.

How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?
We haven't focused on DEI specifically. Instead, we've tried to make an inclusive culture, and have an open mind about hiring from any culture or geography. It's resulted in a team where nearly no one has the same background, we can talk about "controversial" topics in an open way, and we all get along. It reminds us a lot of that feeling when you stay at a hostel and there are lots of interesting people from different countries who just sit around and talk about their culture's view on a given topic.
How do you support your team to grow and improve?
We have regular 1:1s, 90/180/365 day check-ins, and encourage everyone to set their own quarterly goals. We also strive for a culture of helpful feedback so that everyone can improve.
