How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?

We are and will continue to be a remote-first company, so our employees who are checking in from Western Europe, North and South America, aren't limited by the constructs of a 9-5 office job. We also offer unlimited PTO - where most folks take three to four weeks of vacation, plus their major holidays. Our typical work week will not exceed 40 hours - but on rare occasion, if a time line if running behind delivery schedule, as a team we will rally together to ensure timely delivery. There are no lone rangers or ninjas here, we help each other when ever and where ever we can so that no colleague is feeling overwhelmed.

How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?

  • We practice the Shape Up process and run 6-week cycles and 2-week cooldowns. 
    • For the 6-week cycles, PMs provide a problem statement and some guidelines. Designers and engineers are trusted to craft the best solution possible in the cycle using user research, data, experience, and grit. 
    • During the 2-week cooldowns, you have the autonomy to work on what's important to you – including code maintainability or making the team faster. 
  • In Engineering & Product, we don't have designated areas of responsibility so that everyone slowly becomes cross-platform experts.

How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?

We are at the beginning stages of our D&I journey. Our Head of Talent has recently joined in September 2021, and she is actively developing the talent engagement roadmap which includes sourcing tactics that aim to diversify our hiring pipelines. We are also launching an interview / screening training which covers a whole section on unconscious bias. Our future includes participating and supporting niche programs and community groups that foster career opportunities for underrepresented groups. 

How do you support your team to grow and improve?

Because we are still quite small and have a very experienced leadership tier, our employees have the benefit of regular feedback and personalized growth plans from their direct managers. 

As we continue to grow we will develop a comprehensive L&D program to standardize professional progression at Process Street. For now we are proud to deliver a person-to-person, unique experience.
