Outseta
An all-in-one tech stack to launch and grow a subscription or membership business.
Outseta profile
We are a small, independent team working on a very ambitious product—and all in one tech stack that can be used to turn any website or online community into a membership business.
Our customers are largely individual creators or small teams that value the ability to manage their business from behind a single login. The product integrates payments, CRM, authentication, email, and help desk tools.
Our product is used primarily by membership websites, online communities, and SaaS companies.Â

How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?
We believe that your life outside of work is even more important than your life at work and do everything that we can to support you as an individual first, then as a member of our team. We are a fully distributed remote team that trusts everybody to do their best work on the schedule that works best for them. While that's the case, we still honor and cherish our commitments to each other.
How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?
We are a self-managed company—that means there is no hierarchy in the business whatsoever and everyone works on the areas of the business where they can add the most value. You earn recognition and trust by consistently demonstrating great work. The primary reason that we operate this way is to enable autonomous decision-making. Every employee has a stake in the company and as such is empowered to act in the best interest of the business without managerial oversight.
How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?
As stated DEI&B is always a work in progress but is something we spend a lot of time thinking about.Â
Things we've done well to date:
1) We've been very outspoken about building workplaces that are supportive of ALL people. We've taken very public stances against companies and leaders bury their heads in sand to protect revenue at all costs and believe that employees should be encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
As an example: https://www.outseta.com/posts/tech-leaders-your-silence-is-deafening
2)Â All employees of Outseta earn equity in the company at the same rate as our founders. We provide a very uncommon opportunity to build a substantial equity stake in our company to all employees, well beyond "the norm" for tech companies.
What we're still working on:
1) We're actively working on building a list of places where we can find more diverse candidates for our open roles. We've struggled to find diverse candidates for engineering positions in particular.Â
While we know this is reflective of the demographics found in tech for engineering roles, we need to put in the extra work to help make sure diverse candidates are aware of our open positions.

How do you support your team to grow and improve?
It's actually written into our operating agreement that "We look to invest in, develop, and fill open roles with employees/members first."
We're still a start-up, so everybody wears multiple hats but we will absolutely look to formalize more specific professional development tracks as we scale.
