We enable our customers to have complete control over their membership program, including building and maintaining their own website, providing customer service, and integrating with best in class third-party tools like WordPress and MailChimp. Memberful creators retain full control of their brand and maintain a direct connection with their audience.

How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?
Everyone at Memberful is free to live and work wherever they choose. We have a passion for doing great work, but we also want to live our life. That means working during normal business hours, maintaining a calm work environment, minimizing distractions, and respecting everyone's time. Our internal process is built around asynchronous remote communication and deep work.

How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?
Memberful is a small team of self-starters. There are no team leaders, everyone is encouraged to get involved in planning and offer constructive feedback. We don't need to ask others for approval. When we share progress or updates, we do it in a declarative way: E.g. We're doing X because Y.
How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?
We attempt to avoid unconscious bias in hiring through a process that has multiple early steps that rely completely on written communication, which allows us to evaluate objectively and without bias.
We also hire folks from anywhere in the world across a wide range of timezones. Memberful will go to great lengths to hire the right person, no matter where they come from.
Internally, we maintain a culture of openness with a focus on autonomy and ownership. We also encourage debate and feedback for the good of the product or the company. Everyone is expected to be candid and kind in delivering that feedback, including feedback about DEI&B.
Our parent company, Patreon, has done a ton of work in this area and we're continually learning from their experience in this area.
How do you support your team to grow and improve?
People at Memberful are self-motivated and encouraged to dig deeper into the areas they’re passionate about, with plenty of opportunities to grow the skills they’re most interested in. We agree on team-wide goals and then individuals set their own goals and share them with the rest of the team. In general, we deal with roadblocks as a team and anyone is encouraged to participate in brainstorming solutions.
