Cogsy is a simple yet powerful action-taking tool that promotes operational excellence for DTC brands. We turn data into accurate forecasts for retail businesses, so they can make better decisions about inventory and free up capital to grow better, faster.

How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?

We are a fully remote company that offers our team members true flexible work: Each person works whenever and wherever they work best, taking into account a couple hours of overlap time every day to stay aligned as a team.

We operate on trust-based autonomy: each team member is the expert in their domain, trusted to solve challenges the way they feel is best. The rest of the team is always available for support when you need, but never to micromanage. We've created a work environment that is calm and infused with empathy.

Most importantly, Cogsy is a life- and family-first company that seeks meaningful experiences outside of work and we endeavor to help our customers do the same. Work hours are fully flexible and meetings are few and far between. Whenever a team member needs to tend to family matters or just spend time exercising, it's understood to be totally okay and encouraged.

How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?

Our leadership is transparent and shares big picture decisions and developments as quickly as they can with the rest of the team. That being said, most day-to-day decisions are made in conjunction with the rest of the team. Each team member is trusted to be an expert in their field and to make the best decisions possible for our customers.

Team members are encouraged to not have Slack and work email on their mobile devices. In addition, the team doesn't need to have Slack on the entire time they work. As we are distributed around the globe and time zones don't always overlap, it is understood that we will all get back to each other's messages when possible. We are life- and family-first.

How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?

We're committed to creating a diverse and inclusive team. Currently, our 6 team members all live in different countries and come from a variety of backgrounds. We offer location-agnostic pay and look forward to hiring top talent from all over the world and backgrounds.

That being said, as we grow very quickly in the coming year, our priority is to continue working on how to ensure our dream of a diverse team comes to fruition. We are currently hiring for the Head of People role, and a main priority for that position is to find someone who can improve our processes and ensure our team progresses to become even more diverse and inclusive.

How do you support your team to grow and improve?

Team members are encouraged to seek out courses, books, coaching, or any other resource that may help them develop their skills. In addition, team members are encouraged to take on the role of PM for particular sprints to develop their strategic thinking, as well as technical skills. Leadership intentionally seeks out growth opportunities for the rest of the team.
