Checkly profile
How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?
Most of our team works fully remote from 16+ countries. Our US sales team has a hybrid setup and works from our NYC office most days. We have flexible schedules with 4 core working hours, and work as asynchronously as possible by only scheduling meetings when absolutely necessary. This empowers people to set a work schedule that works best for them. We also chase people to make sure they take their vacation and offer perks that allow people to invest in their wellbeing, such as home office setup or co-working space membership, and a wellbeing budget to support mental and physical health.Â
How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?
We are transparent in our strategy, decisions, and communication by defaulting to public and async-first communication. Most discussions and decisions happen in Slack and are documented in Notion or in relevant tickets, allowing everyone to stay informed and revisit key information as needed. Important meetings are recorded. Our bi-annual retreats help align the team around the company’s mission and strategy, while our weekly kick-off meetings provide visibility into each team’s initiatives and how they contribute to Checkly’s overall goals.
How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?
At Checkly, fostering diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging (DEI&B) is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to continuous improvement. As a remote-first company, we hire from diverse countries and have grown from 0% women in June 2021 to 30% in 2025. Our Pay Calculator ensures fair and unbiased salary decisions, and we conduct regular pay reviews to maintain fairness. We also offer part-time options (min 32h/week) to support caregivers.
We invest in bias and inclusion training, a yearly D&I survey, and policies like flexible public holidays to support different cultural and religious backgrounds. We encourage async work to accommodate parents, neurodivergent team members, and others who benefit from fewer meetings. Creating an inclusive environment is an ongoing effort, and we’re committed to listening, learning, and evolving.
How do you support your team to grow and improve?
We focus continuous growth through a mix of continuous feedback, (bi-)weekly 1:1s that include career conversations, formal check-ins, and a $1,500 learning, visiting, and wellbeing budget which can be used for courses, coaches, conferences, tools to experiment with or even co-working with colleagues for mentorship. We strongly believe in the 70-20-10 learning model. As part of onboarding, we run a feedback workshop to help the team develop strong, constructive feedback habits that support ongoing learning and improvement.Â
