How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?

We know the thought of joining a consulting company is scary to many, but we're doing things differently here at BDC. We promote work-life balance as integral to our people-first approach because we know that the best outcomes for our clients come from investing in our team members and meeting them where they are.

Our fully distributed team spans across 12 countries, and you can work flexibly, wherever you want. We provide a laptop and allowance to set up your home office according to your needs. 

We also make sure our team members have time to recharge and provide generous vacation time (that people actually take) + 8 holidays, winter break, and 2 floating holidays.

How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?

As we are fully remote, distributed across 12 countries and multiple time zones, asynchronous communication and autonomy are vital to our team's success. We know it’s hard to do a great job if you don’t have access to the information you need. We’re committed to transparency, so we use our internal wiki (Confluence), along with associated slack channels to give every team member access to the information they need, whenever they need it, and provide open forums as a platform to ask questions.

We’re building an environment where people of all identities, experiences, and backgrounds can thrive and learn. We’re continuously crafting a culture that’s inclusive, growth-minded, and action-oriented.

Running an equitable and inclusive recruiting process is essential to hiring the best-qualified people for our team.

  • We look beyond our immediate network of connections to discover candidates.
  • We anonymize applicants to reduce bias in the review process.
  • We cut out resume review and “gotcha” questions to get at the core skills of each candidate.

How do you support your team to grow and improve?

We embrace change and know that we need to constantly work to adapt to the changing nature of people, processes, and technology. We focus on understanding the limitations of what we know and find meaningful ways to iterate on those lessons.

We want every team member at Brooklyn Data to be able to grow in their role and discover work that they love.
