How do you maintain flexibility & balance for your team?

We understand that one-third of a person’s life is spent working. How do you ensure autonomy and plan for the future?

We believe that autonomy is vital to success, and planning creates autonomy. We listen to our employees to help establish a plan and then encourage individual independence to take ownership of smaller projects. 

For example, Program Implement (PI) Planning is a quarterly planning exercise across Product, Design, and Engineering. It provides a unique opportunity to get all key stakeholders together to set objectives for the upcoming quarter. In doing so, it ensures that teams are working in greater unison both within - and across - their teams to deliver valuable work to Accelo’s users. 

Both individual contributors and management have equal opportunity to make well-informed decisions and weigh in on what features/deliverables are being prioritized allowing everyone to make a direct impact. PI Planning allows employees to feel heard and their opinions valued, creating a stable and organised work environment for people to thrive in.

How does your company try to hire people from underrepresented groups and improve the diversity of your team?

Our DEI&B initiatives are still a work in progress. I will update this as soon as we have a formal policy in writing! 

How do you support your team to grow and improve?

We offer a $2,500 Professional Development Stipend per person per calendar year for short-term learning opportunities directly related to an employee’s career growth at Accelo. This includes, but is not limited to conferences, workshops, webinars, online learning, business-related books, re-certification fees, and professional memberships.

We also offer Developer Driven Time which is a quarterly initiative which provides our engineers the opportunity to work on self-nominated projects and bring that knowledge back to Accelo’s platform and its users. This time can be used to upskill in the areas that interest them or work on the passion projects they care most about.
